WHAT’S UNDER YOUR CLOTHES

Image
Have you ever seen someone in a beautiful outfit and think to yourself “oh no.... that dress would have looked so much nicer on her without those distracting panty lines” While it is important to purchase pieces that are flattering to our body types it is equally, if not more important to do so with our undergarments.  We realize that the search for good foundation garments can be frustrating but the payoff is well worth it.  Here are some tips we have found beneficial.  1. Get a professional bra fitting.  Studies have shown that 80% of women wear the wrong size bra! Opt for bras with wide shoulder straps. Ensure the fit envelopes any fatty areas under the arms and around the back.  The longevity of a bra can be extended by simply soaking it overnight in dishwashing liquid and hanging to dry. It’s doesn’t matter if you’re a size 2 or 22, shapewear is a requirement. They smooth out the lines in skin folds or lines from our panties or waistbands. Avoid ones ...

MENTAL HEALTH DAY

Image
Today, Saturday October 10, is MENTAL HEALTH DAY. For us it’s a day to pause and assess how we are managing life and look to see how we can improve.  The importance of deep friendships can never be overstated. These bonds can be with family, friends, or mentors. It’s in these non judgemental spaces that we can ‘think out loud’. How many of us have walked away from venting and think to ourselves .... “I feel so much better now”  We also find it helpful to pace our activities to allow for some down time. This downtime can be anything from sitting sipping some tea or a walk outdoors.  This next point is so important for this time in our history.  The influx of news and social media information is at an all time high. While it is important to know what’s going on it’s equally important to monitor the effects of too much information on our mental he...

How To Make That Grey Work

Image
Ever wonder why Grey hair looks AMAZING on some people? We’ve had a little over two years to ponder this question... the length of time since we made the decision to stop colouring our hair. Truth is with the transition to GREY special consideration needs to be given to colours that are close to and on the face. We find bolder lip, cheek and eye colours are needed to offset the lighter tone of a grey crown. Similarly saturated scarves and tops play well with grey hair.  We are not suggesting to go bold with everything at the same time .... a choice should be made between eyes and lips. Similarly if opting for saturated clothing close to the face makeup hues can be more toned down.  The bottom line is that grey hair needs a slash of colour either in clothes or makeup. Failing to do so can result in a look that is flat and without any point of interest.
