MENTAL HEALTH DAY
Today, Saturday October 10, is MENTAL HEALTH DAY. For us it’s a day to pause and assess how we are managing life and look to see how we can improve.
The importance of deep friendships can never be overstated. These bonds can be with family, friends, or mentors. It’s in these non judgemental spaces that we can ‘think out loud’. How many of us have walked away from venting and think to ourselves .... “I feel so much better now”
We also find it helpful to pace our activities to allow for some down time. Having a back to back schedule of activities can be draining, leaving no time for reflection and calming our thoughts. This downtime can be anything from sitting sipping some tea or a walk outdoors.
This next point is so important for this time in our history. The influx of news and social media information is at an all time high. While it is important to know what’s going on it’s equally important to monitor the effects of too much information on our mental health. Bear in mind that news by its very nature presents the worse case scenarios while social media for the most part presents unrealistic and questionable images.
So today check in with your mental status. Changes can’t be made unless you know where you are. Take good care of your mind.
